Live Coverage: Practice No. 11 taken at Gillette Stadium (Patriots)

FOXBOROUGH -- Back for another day of Patriots training camp, and the second joint practice with the Jaguars. The BSJ crew is on the scene for what looks like will be an overcast and cool morning of work. Let's see what happens:

• Little bit of a different set up here this morning, as Bill Belichick is addressing the media on the field before the start of practice instead of the media workroom. Jacoby Brissett and Jimmy Garoppolo were the first guys on the field this morning for the Patriots.

• Former Eagles and Niners head coach Chip Kelly is here watching practice.

Matthew Slater still not on the field this morning at the start of practices. Also not spotted at the start of the workout were kicker Stephen Gostkowski (who is apparently kicking in Gillette Stadium), cornerback Eric Rowe, linebacker Trevor Bates, linebacker Shea McClellin and offensive lineman Tony Garcia. Meanwhile, left tackle Nate Solder was among those who moved down to the lower fields shortly after practice began.

• Light rain has started to fall as both sides go through their initial stretching period.

• Topic of pre-practice discussion: Which current member of the Jacksonville roster will Belichick target next offseason? Belichick has praised the joint practices as a good way to prepare for the new season, but he's also made some personnel decisions based on how opponents have looked against his own roster in joint practices. Add your thoughts in the comments below.

Tedy Bruschi is also here. Same for Troy Brown and Robert Kraft.

• In a passing drill, there appeared to be a miscommunication between Tom Brady and Dwayne Allen on a route. Brady and Allen talked for a few seconds, Allen ran it again, and hauled in the catch. A good sign when it comes to the burgeoning relationship between the two.

• In red zone passing drills, Malcolm Mitchell just delivered an impressive shake of Stanley Jean-Baptiste to create some separation. Brandin Cooks again flashed some impressive short-area quickness. On the other field, Stephon Gilmore and Arrelious Benn just locked up in a nice one-on-one matchup. Gilmore is showing more and more that he's not only fast, but also an impressive physical presence.

Kid Rock during special teams work? OK then. The playlist has also included Naughty by Nature, Montell Jordan, The Who, Metallica, The O'Jays, Guns n' Roses, Dr. Dre & Tupac and AC/DC.

• Better day today -- to this point -- for Rob Gronkowski. He was flagged for an OPI in a passing drill, but other than that, it's been all good. No drops, multiple catches over Jacksonville defenders. But no celebrations like Day One. Little more muted for the big fella.

• Young receiver K.J. Maye impressive in a passing drill, showing a nice connection with Jimmy Garoppolo. At one point, he caught four passes from Garoppolo in a drill where the QB ended up going 5-for-6. The fight at the back end of the wide receiver depth chart between the likes of Maye and Devin Lucien (who is matching him catch-for-catch) is a good one.

• Like we said the other day, when it came to the Patriots giving Dion Lewis every opportunity to win the kick return job, they're doing the same thing with Cyrus Jones and punt returns. More work for him in the drills today. Julian Edelman and Lewis also getting chances at punt returner.

Malcolm Butler just had a dynamite pass breakup on a Blake Bortles ball for Benn. And Gilmore followed that by knocking away a Bortles pass for Allen Robinson. Good back-to-back sequence for the New England cornerbacks. Clean and competitive. (Bortles would get some revenge a few plays later with a nice deep connection over Butler to Shane Wynn.)

• In 11-on-11 work, offensive lineman Cole Croston was smoked on back-to-back sequences. Not good for a guy on the outer reaches of the roster.

• In goal-line work in 11-on-11s for the Jags, Greg just wondered aloud about the possibility of a Bortles' pick. Next play, Butler almost came away with one. So close. In the same drill, Kyle Van Noy busted through the Jags' front and almost sacked Bortles, but drew a holding call than knocked him and the Jacksonville running back down.

• It's been spread out over the course of a few different drills, but in 11-on-11 work, Brady is in the midst of an 11-for-16 streak against Jacksonville, not including one ball that was spiked to stop the clock.

• With post-practice "opportunity time" looming, it's likely Brady and Garoppolo won't get any more reps. If that's the case, Brady finished the day 18-for-26, with three of the incompletions on balls that were thrown away or spiked to stop the clock. Meanwhile, Garoppolo was 7-for-8.

•  The last play of "opportunity time" saw the Patriots fail to score a touchdown, and just about all of the New England roster -- including Belichick -- dropped to the ground for pushups.
