Final: Red Sox 7, Rangers 1

No drama, no extra-innings, no threat of a walkoff. Instead, the Red Sox cruised to a relatively easy 7-1 win over the Texas Rangers in the opener of a weekend series.

Six different hitters knocked in a run and Nick Pivetta allowed just one on three hits over seven innings.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the third, the Red Sox opened the game up with a four-run sixth, then tacked on two more in the seventh, part of a 10-hit attack.
