PREGAME NOTES

The Bruins will look to right the ship against the Blues and Torey Krug — who will be making his first appearance at TD Garden since signing with St. Louis back in 2020. Krug is a game-time decision after missing the last 10 games with an upper-body injury. The Blues have won five games in a row. 

The Bruins will once again be shorthanded, with David Pastrnak, Hampus Lindholm and Matt Grzelcyk all ruled out. Grzelcyk could be in play for Thursday’s home game against Ottawa, while Pastrmak and Lindholm might be on the shelf a bit longer. 

"I don't have a whole lot new,” Bruce Cassidy said of Pastrnak and Lindholm’s recovery timetables. “I guess they're dragging on a little longer than I thought at first diagnosis. So other than that, I wish I had better news. I still don't believe it'll be long, long term. But I thought both would be a little farther along by this time. 

Jeremy Swayman is expected to get the start in net for Boston tonight. 

The Bruins will have a chance to clinch a playoff berth tonight. If they defeat the Blues in any fashion and the Penguins defeat the Islanders in any fashion, Boston is in. They can also clinch a spot in the postseason if the B’s earn one point against the Blues and the Penguins best the Islanders in regulation.
