PREGAME NOTES
The Bruins welcome the Dallas Stars to TD Garden at 1 p.m. to conclude their seven-game home stand. Boston signed Justin Brazeau to a two-year, two-way contract with an annual NHL cap hit of $775,000. Brazeau played in 49 games for Providence this season tallying 18 goals, 19 assists and 37 points. Jakub Lauko missed Sunday's practice with an upper-body injury and his status for today is unknown.
Jim Montgomery told reporters today that he still has full confidence in his group right now. “I talked to [the team] about how we're playing, I talked to them about what I like, what we would like to be better at, and also to stick together,” said Montgomery. “That's why I talk about the outside noise… the sky is not falling. It's not. We believe in a process that if we get five percent better, we win our last three games," Montgomery explained.
The task doesn't get any easier today as they face a Dallas squad that leads the Central Division with 75 points, which is also tied with Boston for the third points points in the league. The Stars enter today coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to Edmonton that ended a three-game winning streak. Matt Duchene and Jason Robertson are tied for the team lead in points at 55. Roope Hintz paces Dallas with 23 goals on the season. The Stars also have the top offense in the NHL as they score 3.75 goals per game. The Bruins are going to need to show urgency and toughness right out of the gate if they want to keep up with one of the best teams in the NHL.
