POSTPONED: Red Sox (73-70) vs. Yankees (71-72) - Boston and New York opener rained out; Tuesday double-header awaits
The Red Sox and Yankees' opener for their four-game set at Fenway Park was rained out due to rain. It will now be at 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday at Fenway before Tuesday's regularly scheduled 7:10 p.m. start. RHP Kutter Crawford (6-7, 4.36) and RHP Clarke Schmidt (9-8, 4.54) were slated to get the start Monday.

WHAT'S UP
The Sox snapped a four-game skid with a 7-3 win over the Orioles on a rainy Sunday at Fenway.
They are effectively out of the playoff race, 6.0 games back of the final Wild Card spot in the American League. With that, Boston and New York are duking it out in this four-game set to avoid a last-place finish in the AL East. The Yankees are 2.0 games back of Boston for fourth in the division.
Schmidt threw 6.1 innings against the Tigers last time out, giving up three runs and five hits with six strikeouts. That start came after a winless August, including a no-decision against the Red Sox on Aug. 20 that saw him give up two runs (earned) on four hits (one HR) with eight K's and two walks in 5.2 innings of a 6-5 loss.
He will make his eighth appearance and fourth start against Boston in his career. He's previously 0-1 with a 4.03 ERA.
Crawford will make his fourth start and sixth appearance against New York. He's previously 2-1 with a 1.89 ERA in his career versus the Yankees.
The right-hander has failed to make it through at least four innings in back-to-back starts, throwing 3.2 in last Tuesday's 8-6 loss to the Rays in 11 innings. He allowed five runs (earned) on three hits (one HR) and four walks while picking up five strikeouts.
