The Red Sox twice failed to preserve one-run leads and dropped a 6-5 decision to the Yankees in 11 innings at Yankee Stadium.

The Sox had leads of 4-3 and 5-4 in the late innings, but the Yankees battled back to knot the game against the Boston bullpen.

Finally, in the 11th, Josh Donadlson drove a ground ball through the infield against rookie Kutter Crawford, scoring automatic runner Isiah Kiner-Falefa from second with the winning run.

The Sox used seven pitchers throughout the afternoon.

The Sox scored three runs in the first inning before they made an out, with Rafael Devers smoking a two-run homer.

But the Yankees collected three homers over the course of the afternoon, and kept climbing back.
