Final: Red Sox 4, Rays 3

After loading the bases in the ninth, the Red Sox somehow held on for a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Jake Diekman issued three walks in the ninth, and Matt Barnes came on to face Wander Franco. Barnes got Franco to hit a hard grounder to the right side, which second baseman Trevor Story gloved with a sliding stop before throwing to first for the game's final out.

The Sox got two runs in the first and two more in the third, one on a solo homer from Rafael Devers.

Franco drilled two solo homers to account for two of the three Rays runs.

Michael Wacha earned his first win with five strong innings.
