The Red Sox' offense awoke from its slumber, pounding out 12 hits and trampling the Kansas City Royals, 7-4, to reach the .500 level again.

Josh Winckowski provided five strong innings and allowed just one run, evening his record at 5-5 for the season.

The Sox had a balanced attack, with five different hitters knocking in at least one run. Xander Bogaerts led the way with his second four-hit game of the seaason.
