Final: Orioles 2, Red Sox 1 (10)

Six outs away from a shutout victory behind the brilliance of starter Nate Eovaldi, the Red Sox instead dropped a crushing 2-1 decision to the Baltimore Orioles in 10 innings when Hirokazu Sawamura's throwing error allowed the winning run to score the winning run.

The Orioles had two on and no out in the 10th when Robinson Chirinos dropped a bunt right to Sawamura. But the pitcher rushed his throw high, and pinch-runner Jorge Mateo to score from second.

Eovaldi blanked the Orioles over seven innings without allowing a hit until two out in the sixth. He left after seven, having allowed just three hits.

The O's tied it in the eighth against Matt Barnes, as the Red Sox, who scored in the first, didn't score again.
