Final: Red Sox 3, Orioles 1

What looked to be a relatively easy night for the Red Sox tuned into something else entirely. After scoring three runs in the second inning, the Sox blanked the Baltimore Orioles for eight innings before the O's broke through and had the potential winning run at the plate before the Sox successfully closed things out for a 3-1 win.

A two-run homer by Christian Arroyo and a run-scoring single from Christian Vazquez, coupled with an Orioles' error gave the Sox an early lead.

But the Orioles stirred to life in the ninth, with a solo homer from Ryan Mountcastle, then had two on before Matt Strahm got pinch-hitter Chris Owings swinging to preserve the lead.
