This time, there were no last-minute heroics necessary.

The Red Sox raced out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning and whenever the Baltimore Orioles countered, the Sox responded by adding on more, holding off the O's, 9-5.

In so doing the Red Sox became just the third team since 2001 to score at least nine runs in each of their first three games.

The Sox pounded out 14 hits, with Adam Duvall, Saturday's hero, supply three hits including two doubles.

Tanner Houck gave the Red Sox five innings, allowing three runs and became the first Red Sox starting pitcher to claim a victory this season.
