Final: Mets 5, Red Sox 1 - Mets score 4 runs after Crochet leaves game, Red Sox strike out 16 times
The Red Sox lose the final game of their series against the New York Mets 5-1 striking out 16 times in the contest.
This game was a pitcher's duel between Garrett Crochet and Mets starter Tylor Megill. Crochet had another great start on the mound pitching 5.1 innings, striking out five batters and allowing only 1 earned run.
Megill pitched the better game though striking out 10 batters in 4.2 innings only allowing 1 earned run. Megill got a majority of his strikeouts off his fastballs and sinkers commanding the strike zone really well.
The Mets got their first run of the game in the 2nd inning with an RBI base hit from Brett Baty.
In the 5th inning, the Red Sox finally got runners on base against Megill, loading the bases for Jarren Duran who tied the game for Boston.
In the 6th inning, Crochet struck out the first batter on the inning, but Alex Cora decided to take Boston's ace out of the game after throwing only 85 pitches. Liam Hendriks ended the inning striking out the side.
Hendriks then went out the next inning, but he couldn't replicate what he did in the 6th. Hendriks loaded the bases with no outs, and the Mets took a 4-1 lead. The Mets got their final run of the game with a Francisco Lindor home run.
Yet again, another game where the Red Sox couldn't do much at the plate struggling to give run support for Boston's ace.
The Red Sox will stay at home and start a new series against the Baltimore Orioles. First pitch will again be at 6:45 p.m.

WHAT'S UP
The Red Sox will wrap up their series against the New York Mets looking to complete the sweep with Garrett Crochet on the mound.
Yesterday, the Red Sox shutout the Mets despite Walker Buehler and Alex Cora getting ejected by home plate umpire Mike Estabrook. Estabrook tossed Buehler after arguing balls and strikes, then ejected Boston's manager after Cora ran out onto the field in an attempt to calm things down.
On the latest episode of the “Fenway Rundown” podcast, MassLive’s Sean McAdam revealed that “at least one team had contacted the Washington Nationals of late to inquire about the potential availability of Nathaniel Lowe.” It is unclear whether it was the Red Sox though.
