Final: Mariners 8, Red Sox 5 - Red Sox unable to stop Mariners offense in loss
The Red Sox lose to the Seattle Mariners 8-5 as Boston's pitching staff struggle to limit hits in the game.
Sean Newcomb took the mound for the Red Sox today, and the Massachusetts lefty allowed four runs on eight hits in 5 innings on the mound. Despite all this, Newcomb did strike out eight batters, but couldn't limit the hits against the Mariners.
As for the Mariners, right-handed starter Emerson Hancock picked up the win against the Red Sox only allowing two runs in 6 innings on the mound.
In the 4th inning, the Mariners looking a commanding lead over the Red Sox which put the game as 4-0 in favor of Seattle.

The Red Sox were able to cut the lead in the 4th and 5th inning with RBI's from Romy Gonzalez and Rafael Devers. However, bad bullpen appearances from Brennan Bernardino and Josh Winckowski resulted in the Mariners taking a 8-2 lead against Boston.
Triston Casas gave the Red Sox the chance to get back into the game with a three run homer in the 8th inning, but Mariners closer Andre Munoz was able to close out the game for Seattle.

One starting pitcher played better than the other, and that was a main reason for Boston's loss tonight. It's nice to see Casas get a home run and continue to put up offense.
Boston will finish up their series with Seattle tomorrow at 1:35 p.m. Garrett Crochet will take the mound.
