Javier Baez cranked a two-run homer off Ryan Brasier in the eighth inning, snapping a 1-1 tie, and giving the Detroit Tigers a 3-1 victory, handing the Red Sox their third loss in four tries this season.

The Red Sox managed just four hits in the game, including a solo homer from J.D. Martinez, leading off the fifth inning. That was the first baserunner of the night for the Sox, and they collected just three hits thereafter.

Michael Wacha overcame a rocky first inning and gave the Sox 4.1 innings, allowing just one run before being lifted at 72 pitches.
