Final: Red Sox 4, Cubs 2  taken at BSJ Headquarters  (Red Sox)

After suffering a blown save in the eighth inning, the Red Sox rebounded three innings later for a 4-2 victory in 11 innings over the Chicago Cubs. The win allowed the Sox to avoid a series sweep and gave them a winning road trip.

In the top of the 11th, a costly throwing error by Cubs reliever Rowan Wick allowed two runs to score.

Jake Diekman pitched two scoreless innings in relief and got credit for the win after Matt Strahm had allowed a game-tying homer in the eighth to Patrick Wisdom.
