Nick Pivetta overcame some early wildness and pitched seven innings of one-run ball while four different Red Sox hitters knocked in runs as the Sox took the rubber game of their interleague series with the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-4. The win gave the Sox five consecutive series wins.

Pivetta walked four in the first three innings, but settled down thereafter and finished strong, striking out the final four hitters he faced, giving him 10 strikeouts.

The Sox got a solo homer from Trevor Story to open the scoring and a three-run shot from Christian Vazquez in the eighth for plenty of insurance, which was
