Final: Blue Jays 1, Red Sox 0

The Red Sox offense took a giant step backward Thursday, limited to just four hits -- all singles -- in a flat 1-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Sox had scored a dozen runs in the previous two games, but reverted to the slumping attack of the past week. Alek Manoah shut down the Sox for seven innings before getting help from two relievers.

Meanwhile, the only Jays run was unearned run. Christian Arroyo bobbled a grounder, and that led directly to Toronto pushing a run across in the third off starter (and loser) Garrett Whitlock.

The loss was the third in four games for the series in Toronto for the Sox and dropped them to 2-5 on their current road trip.
