PRE-GAME NOTES
The Sox scratched 1B Triston Casas this afternoon with a tooth infection, nearly starting IF Pablo Reyes in an emergency role having never played first base before IF Justin Turner stepped in to play his first game in the field since July 30 as he deals with a heel injury. It's unclear how much time Casas will miss.
SS Trevor Story (0-16 against Washington and New York this week) is out to start with Adam Duvall back in the lineup at DH. Story could move to shortstop midway through today's game to allow Reyes to take over at first and Turner to rest, if possible. Reyes has never played an MLB game at first base. Catcher Connor Wong is available as an emergency second baseman.
“I think (Story) put good at-bats,” Alex Cora said. “He didn’t get hits. He was very aggressive with the swing but didn’t get hits.”
