Final: Red Sox 8, Orioles 3 - Red Sox get the bats going after allowing 3 runs in 2 innings

Trevor's Game Notes:

Strong finish: Brayan Bello started the game off rough allowing 3 runs in the first 2 innings. This was the only offense he let up, as he would go on to pitch 5 innings, striking out 7 batters. 

Saving the day: Brennan Bernardino had a great relief appearance today. He would come into the game in the 6th inning after Bello loaded up the bases with no outs. Not only did Bernardino help the Red Sox get out of the jam, but he would also retire the side in the 7th inning. 

Middle order offense: Rob Refsynder, Wilyer Abreu and Rafael Devers were the main catalysts for the Red Sox on offense. Rafael Devers had a 4 hit performance, being only a home run short of recording a cycle. Refsnyder and Abreu hit the only 2 home runs of the game, breaking the Sox streak of games without a home run (3 games).

The Red Sox lost to the Orioles yesterday. They allowed a season high in runs, their most since 9/20/23 at Texas (15 runs). The Red Sox are 9-11 in their last 20 games, beginning on 5/5 at Minnesota.

With a loss today, Boston would fall to 8-9-1 in series play, including 2 consecutive series losses after losing a 3-game series vs. Milwaukee over the weekend.

Tyler O’Neill is not in the Red Sox lineup for a third straight game. O'Neill left Saturday’s game after seven innings because of right knee soreness, then didn’t play Sunday and Monday.

Active Red Sox hitters have gone 9-for-26 against Orioles right-handed starter Grayson Rodriguez. Wilyer Abreu is 3-for-5 with a double and RBI.
