The Bruins are coming off a dominant 7-1 showing against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday for their ninth win in a row.
Boston placed Taylor Hall on LTIR and Nick Foligno on injured reserve on Thursday after acquiring Tyler Bertuzzi from Detroit for draft picks. Brad Marchand is expected to play after leaving Thursday's game against Buffalo with a lower-body injury. Bertuzzi will make his debut, slotting alongside Charlie Coyle and Trent Frederic on the third line, and Matt Grzelcyk will likely draw out of the lineup as Dmitry Orlov continues to rotate through.
“I think that’s the plan: start [Bertuzzi] there with Frederic,” Jim Montgomery said Friday. “I haven’t talked to [Joe Sacco] about penalty kill. I know he penalty-killed in Detroit, and he’s a good penalty-killer. I know he’s definitely going to play power play.”
Boston is 2-0-0 in the season series against the Rangers, who are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games, falling to the Ottawa Senators last time out.
Tyler Motte is day-to-day after leaving the game against the Sens. If he can't play, New York will likely have to go with 11 forwards and five defensemen because of cap constraints as K'Andre Miller serves the third and final game of his suspension.
