The Bruins fell to the Minnesota Wild 3-2 on Saturday night. Boston now finds themselves in a four-game losing streak, the longest one this season.

The Bruins got off to a great start in the first period playing with energy and controlling the puck. David Pastrnak scored on the power play at the 2:37 mark to give the B's a 1-0 lead.

The second period was when everything went downhill for the Bruins. Joel Eriksson Ek scored on the man advantage at the 5:57 mark to tie the game up at one.

Kirill Kaprizov scored a little later at the 7:22 mark to give the Wild a 2-1 lead. Boston was outshot 19-6 in the second period alone.

The Bruins continued to struggle in the third period as they could not get consistent shots on goal to give them scoring chances. Marcus Foligno scored at the 3:10 mark which gave Minnesota a 3-1 lead.

Morgan Geekie gave the Bruins a chance at the 13:53 mark as he scored to cut the deficit to 3-2. However, Boston failed to cash in again.

Linus Ullmark had a great game in net finishing the night with 32 saves for the B's.

The Bruins will be back in action on Wednesday night when they finish their three-game road trip in Buffalo to take on the Sabres with face off set for 7:30 p.m.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:

  •  Ullmark single handily kept the B's in the game. The goaltending standing on its head has been a constant theme this season.
  • The defense fell asleep once the second period started.
  • The penalty kill has not been what it was earlier in the season, now struggling to clear penalties.
  • Boston lost to a Minnesota team without both Matts Zuccarello and Ryan Hartman
  • Hopefully the Christmas break will do some good for the Bruins to clear their heads.
