PREGAME NOTES
Boston traded Craig Smith and three draft picks to the Washington Capitals in exchange for Dmitry Orlov (50 percent retained) and Garnet Hathaway on Thursday. They also sent a fifth round pick to Minnesota, who retained an addition 25 percent of Orlov's deal. Jakob Zboril will slot in as the seventh defenseman against the Kraken.
The Kraken shut out the Bruins, 3-0, at TD Garden on Jan. 12, handing Boston its first loss at home in regulation. The Bruins swept Seattle in the season series last year with a pair of 3-2 wins.
Boston has won four in a row, beating the Ottawa Senators, 3-1, at the Garden on Monday. The B's have outscored opponents, 17-5, during the win streak. Thursday's game in Seattle kicks off a four-game swing through the northwest with Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary on the docket as well.
Tomas Nosek, who has missed 11 games, returned to practice Wednesday and participated in an optional morning skate Thursday. He will not to return to the lineup. Jim Montgomery told reporters Thursday, "He's medically cleared to play, but probably not going to be an option tonight."
Jake DeBrusk has two goals and an assist in two contests since missing 16 games thumb and lower-body injuries. He has four goals and two assists in his last four games.
Seattle is coming off a 4-0 loss at San Jose on Monday. They are 3-4-1 in February, so far.
The Kraken recalled Jesper Froden from Coachella Valley of the AHL on Wednesday, and he is expected to make his debut with Seattle. In 44 games with Coachella Valley this season, he has 47 points (25g, 22a). He notched one goal in seven games with the Bruins last season in addition to 34 points (16g, 18a) in 49 games with Providence of the AHL.
