The Bruins defeated the Dallas Stars 3-2 on Monday night. Brad Marchand's goal at the 9:51 mark in the third period wound up being the difference. The B's are now 10-1-1 on the season.

The first period was highlighted by the kids getting in on the scoring. John Beecher got the scoring started with his first NHL career goal at the 10:21 mark to make it 1-0 Boston.

Mason Lohrei scored his first NHL career goal at the 14:09 mark in the first period which made it 2-0 Bruins.

"You work your life to be here and you always dream about scoring your first goal," Mason Lohrei told reporters after the game.

The second period saw no goals come across but a big reason for that was due to Jeremy Swayman's play in net. Swayman made multiple impressive plays finishing the night with 35 saves. Swayman remains undefeated on the season with this win tonight.

The third period was when the momentum started to shift as Wyatt Johnston scored at the 5:09 mark to cut the Bruins' lead to 2-1. Brad Marchand scored at the 9:51 mark later on to make it 3-1 which wound up being the game winner. Joe Pavelski scored at the 19:32 mark to make it 3-2, but it was not enough. Dallas had a chance at the end with a two-man advantage as Hampus Lidnholm went off for tripping at the 19:54 mark. However, the Bruins wound up winning the face-off as time expired to secure the win. Dallas outshot Boston 16-4 in the third period.

The Bruins will be back in action on Thursday night when they return to TD Garden to take on the New York Islanders with puck drop set for 7p.m.

PREGAME NOTES

Jeremy Swayman will get the start in net for Boston tonight as he looks to remain perfect on the season.

The Bruins are facing a Stars team that currently sits at the top of the Central divison with a 7-2-1 record on the season. "This was a high end team last year,”  Jim Montgomery told reporters this morning. “You know, they were a semifinalist in the Stanley Cup playoffs as well…they're a dangerous team in transition both ways and they've got some dynamic players,” Montgomery continued.

Roope Hinta leads Dallas inpoints with five goals and six assists, good for 11 points on the season.

The Stars are coming off a 2-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks Saturday night ending a three game winning streak.

Jamie Benn is another player to keep an eye on as he has five points in his last five games versus the Bruins.

Boston will be facing.a former Bruin in Tyler Seguin who was originally drafted by the B's second overall back in 2010.
