PREGAME NOTES
- Marchand is out and Merkulov is in.
From NHL.com:
Brad Marchand will not play for the Boston Bruins against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday (3:30 p.m. ET; MAX, truTV, TNT, NESN, SN360, TVAS) because of an upper-body injury.
The Bruins forward and captain was helped off the ice early in the first period of a 3-2 win at the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday following a hit by Penguins defenseman P.O Joseph on a power play at 5:52, falling face-first into the boards. Marchand remained down for several minutes before being partially carried to the locker room by teammate David Pastrnak and a trainer.
The Bruins announced in the upper-body injury in the second period and that he was unlikely to return.
“Same as yesterday,” coach Joe Sacco said Sunday. “There's really nothing new to report yet. He's out today. We'll know more, he'll get evaluated when we get back to Boston. Still, it's an upper-body injury right now.”
