FOXBOROUGH - For the second time in his young career, Will Campbell might miss time due to an injury. The Patriots’ left tackle got his right leg rolled up in the 2nd quarter of yesterday’s win over the Raiders, needed help off the field, and, while he eventually returned to the sideline, wore a knee brace and did not re-enter the game.
Shortly after, reports said Campbell had suffered a sprain that would sideline him, coincidentally to the same knee he hurt a season ago. Mike Vrabel, however, wasn’t about to confirm anything on Monday morning, especially this early in the week (playing the Jets may have something to do with that).
“We’ll see how the week goes,” Vrabel said of Campbell. “It’ll get looked at and continue to rehab. Wasn’t able to finish the game, so I mean, I don’t know how much time he’ll miss, if he’ll be back towards the end of the week, if he’ll be back Wednesday. But we’ll take it day by day and see how he feels tomorrow. See what he does Wednesday and keep you updated on the injury report.”
In Campbell’s absence, 2026 first-round pick Caleb Lomu got his heaviest workload of the season, playing 49 snaps, 47 at left tackle. Guess who looked like their best self in a familiar role (he was a full-time left tackle at Utah)? Yep, Lomu. In fact, it was a stark contrast to his first extended outing that came late in the blowout loss to Jacksonville. There, playing the right side, the 21-year-old rookie looked like he was a year away from being a year away. On Sunday against Las Vegas, Lomu accelerated that timeline.
“I don’t think it was too big for him,” Vrabel said. “I think he was able to settle down, and we didn’t really notice him a lot. So I think that’s probably a good thing. Was able to anchor at times on some power, and allowed Drake to be able to transfer up into the pocket, and I thought it worked together well with AVT (left guard Alijah Vera-Tucker) when they got in there.”
I haven't finished film study yet (by tonight), but SumerSports has Lomu for
