Bedard: Eagles GM Howie Roseman is decidedly non-committal on A.J. Brown remaining with the Eagles taken at NFL Annual Meeting (Patriots)

(USA Today Network)

PHOENIX — The Patriots' portion of the league meetings will start Monday with an informal meeting with Robert Kraft, and then on Tuesday with Mike Vrabel, but there was a little news today related to the New England football club.

Namely, about that receiver that is the property of the Eagles.

Philadelphia GM Howie Roseman had a session with Eagles reporters this afternoon, and he gave this update:

"I understand that there's interest in the A.J. Brown story," Roseman said to local beat writers, including Jeff McLane of the Philly Inquirer. "Unfortunately, I don't have a home under a rock. But my answer to any question on A.J. Brown is that A.J. Brown is a member of the Eagles. From my perspective, anything you ask me about A.J. Brown, I'm going to go right back to that answer. But I understand the interest. I put on TV and I see that there's interest. But my answer is A.J. Brown is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles."

BSJ ANALYSIS

Well, if that's not the biggest non-committal quote I've ever seen in this circumstance, it's right up there.

Roseman didn't come within a football field of saying something like, 'A.J. Brown will be on the Eagles.' Or even, 'We envision Brown being a part of the Eages.'

Basically, the Eagles are moving him, or they're going to die trying to do that.

We'll hear more from the Patriots, including the financial component of this, over the next couple of days. But make no mistake, Roseman signaled that he is open for business on Brown. If you want him (I do not, especially for 2027 draft pick compensation), you'd better hope other teams don't jump into the mix. The Ravens would be high on my radar. The Chargers would be next.

Those are the types of deals that come together at the league meetings, where the booze tends to flow a little freely in the evening.
