FOXBOROUGH - Practice No. 6 of 2025 is in the books; let's run down all you need to know: all the stats, 3 up/down, 1-on-1s, and odds and ends:
FOUR THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
UPDATE - Patriots place FB Brock Lampe on IR, ending his season: Patriots announced today the signing of LB R.J. Moten. The 6-foot, 224-pounder, spent the spring playing in the UFL for the Michigan Panthers. To make room on the roster, the Patriots placed rookie FB Brock Lampe on injured reserve.
This could end the fullback thing, for now. Lampe had been featured a lot in the early portions of camp. Perhaps the Patriots look for another on waivers at some point.
Rookie linemen making a move: Draft picks Will Campbell and Jared Wilson each went an impressive 2-0 in 1-on-1 reps, and it wasn't against slappies, either. Campbell, who lost his only rep Monday to Keion White, got the best of White and K'Lavon Chaisson on Tuesday. Both times, Campbell was able to latch on to the rushers and show off his very strong hands. If Campbell gets a hold of you, he's tough to shake loose from. Campbell also appeared to have a strong practice. He did give up a sack to Chaisson, but Campbell seemed to argue the DE jumped the snap early - which has been an issue (no refs yet).
Wilson defeated Christian Barmore in both his reps and showed little stress is shutting down the DT. He's very efficient and plays with great technique. In practice, it seemed like Wilson had jumped to the head of the line at left guard over Caeden Wallace and Cole Strange, who dropped behind Wilson and Wallace in terms of pecking order. Wilson also received good reps at center. That might be useful because Garrett Bradbury went down near the end of practice and did not return. That could stunt Wilson's assault on the left guard position if Bradbury is sidelined.
Inconsistent day for Maye: Drake Maye missed on his five passes of team periods, and he was all over the place - he turfed his first throw to Hunter Henry, over threw an open Kyle Williams as Maye held his helmet in digust, Maye was easily broken up by Christian Ellis on a pass to Henry, and fumbled a snap with Bradbury to get the first unit kicked off the field by Mike Vrabel. Maye later overthrew Henry.
But Maye also had moments of brilliance. He threw a perfect back shoulder to Williams that was dropped. Maye had back-to-back touchdowns to Williams and Diggs that were beauties, especially the toss to Diggs. Maye manipulated the pocket (not sure he had to, as he nearly ran into the blocker) but threw a great touch pass to Diggs that required good anticipation. Maye ended his practice with a nice touch pass touchdown to Kayshon Boutte.
Maye finished 5 of 7 after the slow start.
Gonzalez sidelined but makes an appearance: Christian Gonzalez, who left Monday's practice with a left leg injury, appeared on the sidelines toward the end of practice with his left leg in a sleeve and no apparent limp. Gonzalez has a hamstring injury that might keep him down for a few weeks but Week 1 is not in danger, according to league sources.
Borregales answers back: After watching Parker Romo start camp 13 of 14, including 6 of 6 yesterday, sixth-round pick Andy Borregales answered back by going 6 for 6 from 33, 38, 41, 45, 49 and 52. He's now 10 of 14.

ONE-ON-ONES

Other reporters had another rep and win for Wilson, but I had that as a Caeden Wallace rep and draw against Milton Williams.
Keion White showed a little Maxx Crosby in his game as he tied for a team high four reps (with Milton Williams) and rushed from a different spot each time: RE, LE, NT and DT.
Cole Strange had a decisive loss to Jeremiah Pharms, who put the LG to the ground.
Joshua Farmer didn't appear to take any reps today.
Moses did 1-on-1s but didn't rep in team. I didn't see an injury.
PASSING FROM GIARDI
2-on-2s in the red area
Maye's first three reps went as follows:
Incomplete to Diggs (Jones in coverage)
Incomplete to Williams (Dial in coverage)
Incomplete to Bourne (pass broken up by James)
Dobbs enters:
Complete to Blankumsee (Hawkins in coverage)
Complete to Webb (Woodson in coverage)
Back to Maye:
Well-thrown ball low to the front of the end zone that Henry reels in (Hawkins)
Complete to Diggs (Pettus in coverage)
Complete to Douglas (Blown coverage. 2 defenders followed other WR)
Back to Dobbs:
Incomplete to Bourne (Austin in coverage)
Complete to Henderson (Jordan Polk in coverage)
TOP PLAY
All the work was in the red zone and mostly low red zone so there wasn't going to be anything explosive, but I thought the Maye touch pass touchdown to Diggs over some bodies (it was tough to see him) was really nice, even if Maye made the play a little bit tougher than it had to be by moving in the pocket a little bit too much.
FOUR UP
G/C Jared Wilson and OT Will Campbell: Both were great in 1-on-1s and we got our first good look at a possible all-rookie left side of the line, and it looked pretty good.
QB Josh Dobbs: Was 4 of 7 with three touchdowns in the same period to Javon Baker (over Marcellas Dial), Kendrick Bourne (over Marcus Jones) and to TE Gee Scott.
DE K'Lavon Chaisson: Had two sacks in team and seems to be a real pain in the ass to block, even in the run game where he was featured in goaline somewhat surprisingly over Anfernee Jennings.
CB DJ James: The undrafted free agent just continues to make plays to the point that he was getting some starter reps with Gonzalez and Davis out.
TWO DOWN
LG Cole Strange: At least for today, he fell behind both Wilson and Wallace at LG and had a rough loss in 1-on-1s.
DT Isaiah Iton: Continues to show up in the pass rush, but he had a couple of rough reps against the run, including a blown gap that led to a touchdown.
ODDS AND ENDS
- Drake Maye got to show off his legs and some wrinkles in the Josh McDaniels offense today and it appeared to be effective.
- Thought the running game was pretty good today with some apparent touchdowns: Henderson off right tackle (with a possible hold from Jaheim Bell), Lan Larison on a draw, Rhamondre Stevenson off an option, Trayveon Williams up the middle.
- There was a drill with half-line running run plays with some impressive and not impressive reps: Landry over Scott, Williams over Strange, Jennings over Westover, Chaisson against Campbell (who whiffed), Pharms over Sow, Barmore big-time over Wallace, and Barmore put Strange on the ground.
- Craig Woodson received some good reps at safety with Jaylinn Hawkins and Kyle Dugger.
- Marcus Epps and Brandon Crossley each missed tackles for touchdowns.
- No apparent snap issues from Jared Wilson.
