BSJ Game Report: Bruins 3, Canucks 1 -- B's earn sixth-straight win in Vancouver

Everything you need to know from the Bruins' 3-1 win against the Canucks, with BSJ insight and analysis:

HEADLINES 

Ullmark pushes B's past Canucks: When it rains, it pours.

Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark can do wrong this season and he proved it on Saturday in Vancouver with the first goalie-goal in B's history.

Ullmark secured an empty-net goal for the Bruins in their 3-1 win against the Canucks, while improving his record between the pipes to 30-4-1.

The Vezina Trophy frontrunner turned aside 26 shots from Vancouver in his fifth consecutive win.

Hampus Lindholm and Brad Marchand also potted goals for the B's, while Dmitry Orlov and Garnet Hathaway turned in solid debuts, as the Bruins bumped their record up to 45-8-5.

Lindholm secured his seventh goal of the season on a power-play blast late in the first. Boston's blueliner took a pass from David Krejci at the point and found twine with a few ticks left on the man advantage, to put the Bruins out front, 1-0.

About two minutes later, Marchand doubled the Bruins' lead on a nifty deke and finish past Canucks keeper Arturs Silvos, pushing the B's lead to 2-0 into the first intermission.

The second period saw each team commit a couple of infractions, but neither team capitalized and the Bruins' advantage remained the same after 40 minutes. Vancouver led in shots in the second by a 10-8 margin.

Brock Boeser put the hosts on the board with a goal in the third period to cut the B's lead in half. The Bruins failed to clear the puck from their defensive zone and Boeser got it alone in front and tucked it past Ullmark at 7:24.

The Canucks made a respectable push the rest of the period, however Ullmark's empty-net marker sealed the deal for the Bruins.

THUMBS UP

With the first goalie-goal in the NHL since 2020, Ullmark was the undisputed star for the B's on Saturday. The Canucks were looking to get the puck in deep with the net empty, but Ullmark corralled the puck with confidence and made no mistake to become just the eighth goalie ever to score in a game.

THUMBS DOWN

The Bruins had multiple opportunities in the second period to extend their lead, including a pair of power-play chances, but they couldn't convert. The Canucks hung around for the majority of the final two periods and scored in the third to tighten things up, but the B's could've put the game away much sooner with a better second period.

AROUND THE NHL

The Blue Jackets blew a 4-0 lead, but still squeaked out a 6-5 victory over the Oilers. Connor McDavid upped his league-leading goal total to 48 with two goals, and added two assists in the defeat.

David Pastrnak now trails McDavid by six goals in the chase for the Rocket Richard Trophy.

Speaking of McDavid, the B's will get their first look at No. 97 on Monday in Edmonton. Puck drop is set for 8:30 p.m.
