PREGAME NOTES
The Bruins will look to build a 3-1 series lead over the Capitals in Game 4 on Friday night at TD Garden.
Each of the last 12 playoff contests between Boston and Washington have been decided by a one-goal margin, extending the longest such run by a set of franchises in NHL history. If Game 4 goes into overtime, it would mark the third time in NHL history that a series has gone into overtime in each of its first four or more games. The others are the 1951 Stanley Cup Final between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens and the 2012 Western Conference Quarterfinals between the Arizona Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks.
No lineup changes for the B’s — with David Pastrnak cleared to play after slamming hard into the boards during the closing minutes of Game 3.
Meanwhile, the Caps might be getting healthier. Ilya Samsonov, Evgeny Kuznetsov and T.J. Oshie all played in Game 3, while Lars Eller took part in Friday’s pregame skate. Oshie did not skate Friday morning, but he hasn’t been ruled out for Game 4. As expected, we likely won’t get a full grasp on the Caps’ lineup until warmups get underway later tonight.
