Bedard: Cam Newton makes case for Patriots return, but will that change anything?

In an entertaining and informational interview with former NFL players Brandon Marshall, Chad Ochocinco and Fred Taylor, Patriots free-agent quarterback Cam Newton seemed to make the case for his possible return to the team.

Would he take a one-year deal to go back?

“Yes. Hell yes," he said.

"I am getting tired of changing. I am at a point in my career where I know way more than I did last year. … A system with me, like they know me. Doughboy (N'Keal Harry) knows me. Jakobi (Meyers) knows me. Bud (Damiere Byrd) knows me. The young tight ends know me. The younger guys that come in, (They'll tell them), 'This is how Cam reacts.' We’re still trying to flush out the 20 years of how it used to be and I am going in and I am saying, ‘Well, that’s not me.’

“You’re asking me, ‘Would I go back?’ Yes, I would go back.”

Is there a chance he could return?

"There’s always a chance for everything," Newton said.

Are they talking?

"I can’t say that," Newton said.
