Embiid proves too much for shorthanded C’s: Joel Embiid had a game-high 42 points and attempted 21 free throws, helping the Sixers rally from a fourth-quarter deficit for a 117-109 win over the shorthanded Celtics on Wednesday night. Tobias Harris added 22 points for the Sixers to help Philly outscore Boston 31-17 in the fourth quarter.
Jaylen Brown had a team-high 26 points for the C’s while Marcus Smart added 25 points for a C’s offense that was without Jayson Tatum for the third straight game. Kemba Walker started strong in the first half with 17 points but came out cold after intermission with Brad Stevens resting him in the early part of the half to preserve his minutes.
The C’s and Sixers face off in a rematch on Friday night in Philly.
