Good afternoon!
Your daily rundown of what's going on with the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins and Revolution, and what's about to happen...
- We put the bow on the Chargers game on a busy Tuesday, and we'll have our Rams prep later today.
- B-Robb outlines The Path.
- Cam Newton is still a big concern throwing the ball as the Patriots enter almost must-win territory.
- Felger still doesn't get it ... I wrote a column saying it's not about Alex Smith (I would have taken Smith this year as the veteran QB du jour instead of Newton). I told Felger it's not about Alex Smith (who will not be available this offseason, BTW). Yet he still thinks it's about Alex Smith.
- It's about my refusal to believe that Bill Belchick didn't have some sort of Punt To 2021 Master QB Plan — when they will have more cap space than most — and isn't just going to tread water again with another last-chance corral former starting QB (INSERT WHATEVER NAME YOU WANT) next year as Plan A. That can't happen, even as a caretaker for a younger QB who may not ever be ready. The emperor would have no clothes.
- Plus, Jarrett Stidham will be in his third year next year. He should be ready to be a better option than any Past His Prime game manager.
- So stop effing making it about Alex Smith! Stop mentioning his name. It could be anyone.
- The Patriots Pod got into the Newton/Stidham dynamic and the Rams.
- No Corey Kluber?
- Time Lord Commeth.
