FOXBOROUGH — The post Tom Brady era for the Patriots got off to a strong start with the Patriots posting a 10-point victory that could have been much larger if not for some key New England errors that were typical of an opener with no preseason games.

Cam Newton rushed 15 times for 75 yards and two touchdowns. He completed 15 of 19 passes for 155 yards and a passer rating of 100.7.

He would have had a touchdown pass if N'Keal Harry didn't fumble out of the end zone for a touchback.

Stephon Gilmore, Adrian Phillips and JC Jackson each had an interception.

Chase Winovich, John Simon and Deatrich Wise seemed to have strong games for the defense.
