PREGAME NOTES: 

The Bruins will have some reinforcements returning as they look to the right the ship against a disheartening start to Phase 4 play, with Tuukka Rask slated to start Wednesday’s matchup against a very strong Tampa Bay team. Rask was held out of Boston’s 4-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday in Toronto, due to a two-day quarantine, but was cleared to resume practice on Monday. Nick Ritchie will also make his Phase 4 debut with Boston, with the power forward skating on David Krejci’s line. Jack Studnicka will be the odd man out in the B’s lineup, with Karson Kuhlman serving as Krejci’s right wing, while Jake DeBrusk will be bumped down to the third line with Charlie Coyle and Anders Bjork. 

Boston is currently dead last in round-robin seeding in the Eastern Conference with zero points. Tampa Bay and Philly both lead with two points apiece, while Washington has one point.

With Boston scoring just two goals in two games since arriving up in Toronto, look for the B’s to opt for simpler plays in the offensive zone with an emphasis on funneling pucks into Grade-A ice. 

Ondrej Kase will not play in Wednesday’s game, but Bruce Cassidy noted that the B’s winger would likely get back into the lineup for Sunday’s matchup against the Capitals. Steven Stamkos skated Tuesday but will miss his second straight round-robin game. Stamkos sustained a lower-body injury before the start of training camp July 13.
