Bedard: A real NFL all-decade team that flip flops some Patriots

(Getty Images)

I had to say something about the 2010s NFL All-Decade team in between going blind watching college film (I usually don't have time for such a deep dive, so it's good in many respects)...

As it should have, the team featured a bunch of Patriots:

QB Tom Brady*
TE Rob Gronkowski
OG Logan Mankins
LB Chandler Jones
K Stephen Gostkowski
Coach Bill Belichick

Coffee-cup Patriots

CB Darrelle Revis
KR Cordarrelle Patterson
WR Antonio Brown

Some of the list I didn't like. I have a lot of problems with the position choices, especially on defense. How it's 2020 and we don't just have defensive linemen, edge players and linebackers, I'll never know. At least they removed the fullback.

Here is the team I would have selected, along with who I would leave off (first team; second team):

Quarterback: Tom Brady; Drew Brees
(OUT: Aaron Rodgers)

No-brainer on Brady, but Brees was more consistent than Rodgers.

Running back: LeSean McCoy/Adrian Peterson; Frank Gore/Marshawn Lynch

No quibbles with this position, the voters got it right. Jamaal Charles, Matt Forte and Le'Veon Bell are three names that deserve consideration.

Receivers: Julio Jones/Antonio Brown; Larry Fitzgerald/DeAndre Hopkins
(OUT: Calvin Johnson)
