PREGAME NOTES:
- The Bruins will look to make it two wins in a row after besting the Penguins, 4-1, on Thursday night. Pittsburgh had won its previous four games before dropping its contest against the B’s.
- Boston will once again be shorthanded up front for Sunday’s game, as David Krejci will miss his second straight game due to an upper-body injury. Charlie Coyle will take his place on the second line, while Par Lindholm will draw in on the third line with Danton Heinen and Karson Kuhlman.
- While the Bruins waived David Backes on Friday afternoon, the veteran will not report to Providence right away after clearing waivers. Like the rest of the NHL roster, Backes will take time off during the league’s bye week before making a decision on his future.
- As always, the Bruins will have to keep tabs on Sidney Crosby, who hasn’t missed a step since returning from core muscle surgery last week. The star center has scored a goal in each of his three games since his return — posting six total points during that stretch.
