PREGAME NOTES:
- After dropping a frustrating game to the Kings on Tuesday, the road doesn’t get any easier for Boston during this four-game homestand, with the Islanders just three points behind the B’s in the Eastern Conference.
- The Islanders have continued to be a tough out for whoever they match up against since Barry Trotz took over, but Boston has had their number over the years. Boston has won seven straight games against New York, with the B’s last loss coming on home ice back on Jan. 16, 2017.
- New York, which ranks fourth in the NHL in team defense at 2.50 goals against per game, does have a bit of an Achilles' heel in its penalty kill — which ranks 18th overall with an 80.0% success rate.
- Mathew Barzal, who leads the Islanders with 27 points through 32 games, is one of 11 Islanders skaters that have tallied at least 10 points on the year.
- The Bruins have switched around their lineup a bit, with Charlie Coyle returning to third-line center and Danton Heinen slotting up to David Krejci’s right. Connor Clifton will replace John Moore on the third D pairing, with the latter out due to illness. Tuukka Rask will once again get the start in net.
