- After missing the previous two games with a nagging lower-body injury, Patrice Bergeron is tabbed as a game-time decision for Thursday’s game, although the B’s center doesn’t expect to spend another night out of the lineup. The Bruins, who are looking to extend their point streak to six games, will be without Brett Ritchie due to a “flare-up” with an infected elbow that kept him out of action for earlier this season.
- As such, Bruce Cassidy is going to load up on his top-six by slotting up Charlie Coyle at RW to play with David Krejci and Jake DeBrusk, while Par Lindholm will center Anders Bjork and Danton Heinen on the third line. Tuukka Rask will get the start in net.
- The Sabres will be without former Bruin Marcus Johansson, who has not played since Nov. 9 due to an upper-body injury. Johansson tallied four goals and 10 points in his first 17 games with his new club.
- Boston will have its hands full with Sabres star and BU product Jack Eichel, who leads his club with 13 goals and 25 points through 21 games this season. The North Chelmsford native has had plenty of success over the years at TD Garden, racking up five goals and 10 total points in five games at the B’s barn.
- “He’s been good here — whether that’s hometown, home-state driven or just because he’s a good player … He is their best player, he’s been good against us. So we have to find a way to keep him in check. We had good matchups against him, so for whatever reason — he’s been able to beat them. I shouldn’t say beat them, but do well against them. Especially here. We seem to have a better time matching up with him in Buffalo here than we do here, and here we get the last line change, so go figure some nights.”
