PREGAME NOTES:
- A desperate Bruins club in need of a win is going to be shorthanded once again on Friday, as Zach Senyshyn joined the growing list of injured skaters after sustaining a lower-body injury on Tuesday against Florida. With Senyshyn out for at least four weeks, Anders Bjork will slot up in a top-six role and skate with David Krejci and Charlie Coyle, while Trent Frederic was called up from Providence and will skate at left wing on a new line with Par Lindholm and Danton Heinen.
- Of Boston’s group of injured skaters, only Brett Ritchie could possibly draw back in for Saturday’s home matchup against the Capitals. Tuukka Rask will get the start in net for Boston, with the netminder looking to bounce back after posting a save percentage of .868 over his last three outings.
- Boston’s lineup might be in rough shape, but the Leafs’ roster is also feeling the sting of the injury bug. Even if John Tavares is back in the fold after missing weeks with a fractured finger, another top-six weapon in Mitch Marner is set to be re-evaluated in four weeks due to an ankle injury. The Leafs third-line center, Alex Kerfoot, is also now out indefinitely following surgery for dental fractures. Toronto is also stuck in a bit of a rut, going 0-2-1 in its last three games.
