PREGAME NOTES:
- Boston is going to be shorthanded all over the roster as it attempts to put an end to this three-game losing streak. While Boston’s forward corps remains unchanged from Sunday (with the likes of Jake DeBrusk, Brett Ritchie and David Backes out), Boston’s blue line will be without Torey Krug for the time being, with the playmaking skater sidelined with an upper-body injury.
- With Krug out of commission, Urho Vaakanainen will slot into the lineup and skate with Connor Clifton on the third D pair, while Matt Grzelcyk will spend most of his minutes next to Brandon Carlo. Grzelcyk is also expected to earn minutes on Boston’s top power-play unit during Krug’s absence.
- The Panthers have been gaining steam as of late, with Florida collecting points in 12 of its last 14 games. Florida’s top line of Aleksander Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau and Evgenii Dadonov has done plenty of damage with a combined 59 points on the year.
- Three former Bruins are set to return to TD Garden on Tuesday in Noel Acciari, Frank Vatrano and Brett Connolly. Acciari, who played the four previous seasons with the Bruins, inked a three-year, $5 million contract upon hitting free agency back in July. The Rhode Island native is averaging 15:30 of ice time per game with his new club while scoring four goals. Connolly is tied for fourth on the Panthers in scoring with 11 points through 17 games, while Vatrano has five goals and eight total points as well.
- Sergei Bobrovsky, who signed a seven-year, $10 million contract with Florida this summer, has failed to hold up his end of the bargain so far — with netminder 6-3-4 on the year with an .884 save percentage.
