In the midst of one of the greatest performances of his 10-year NBA career, it was fitting that Gordon Hayward hit his biggest bucket of the night while doing the dirty work. Kemba Walker hoisted a 3-point shot from the right wing with just over 25 seconds remaining that did not connect. Kevin Love, one of the best rebounders in the NBA, was in perfect position for the board in front of the hoop but never got a chance to grab the ball.

Hayward was on the left wing for Walker’s shot attempt, but he sprinted towards the rim as the ball was released, losing his man Cedi Osman in the process. He swooped in front of Love with his 6-foot-8 frame and calmly laid the ball in to give the Celtics a five-point lead with 22 seconds remaining.
