PREGAME NOTES:
- Zdeno Chara will be the man of the hour on Tuesday night up in Montreal, as the B’s captain will become just the 21st player in NHL history to log 1,500 career games — and just the sixth defenseman to reach that feat (Nicklas Lidstrom, Chris Chelios, Scott Stevens, Larry Murphy and Ray Bourque).
- Boston, in search of its seventh win in a row, might be switching up its lineup a bit, as Zach Senyshyn was recalled from Providence ahead of Tuesday’s game. The speedy winger could take over for Cameron Hughes on Boston’s fourth line, or could replace Brett Ritchie on the third line. Senyshyn appeared in two games with Boston at the end of the 2018-19 regular season, scoring a goal against the Wild.
- Claude Julien will also pass a major milestone on Tuesday, as he will be just the 19th bench boss in NHL history to coach 1,200 games. The Habs play up-tempo and tend to pepper the net (34.2 shots on goal per game), but Montreal’s greatest strength is once again in net, as Carey Price is 4-2-0 with a 2.03 GAA, .932 save percentage and one shutout in his past six starts.
- Tuukka Rask can tie Gerry Cheevers (7-0 with two ties in 1978-79) for the second-longest season-opening point streak by a Boston goalie tonight. Ross Brooks was 8-0 with three ties through his first 11 games in 1972-73.
