BSJ Weekend Briefing 11.01.19: Garoppolo, Niners move to 8-0; Patriots season starts at Baltimore

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I wonder how much crapping on the Niners will go on with Patriots fans today...

• San Francisco joined the Patriots at 8-0 with a 28-25 victory over the 3-5-1 Cardinals.


• As far as victories go, this wasn't all that impressive. But it's a Thursday Night game and it's not like the Patriots blew doors on the Bills, or even the Browns. Not every game is a work of art.


• Jimmy Garoppolo played great without both his starting tackles, his fullback and his top tight end late (sound familiar?). That being said, Garoppolo made some pretty risky throws that might get him into trouble against a better opponent. He still has much to prove in my mind.


• Man, I wish the Patriots drafted Andy Isabella.

• Emmanuel Sanders was extremely impressive in his second 49ers game with seven catches on nine targets for 112 yards and a touchdown. He looked very quick and explosive. Of course, everyone will compare Sanders and Mohamed Sanu for the rest of the season. We'll see. Scoreboard will tell it all in the end.


• After playing the NFL's easiest schedule to date, the Patriots regular season begins Sunday night in Baltimore. They'll play the 23rd-hardest schedule the rest of the way. Much to come today and through the weekend. It's a long way to Sunday night.


• Got a lot of answers out of Dante Scarnecchia and Ivan Fears this week.


• Red Sox free agency is here.


• Kevan Miller back on the ice.


• Bruins power play tweak unleashes hell on opponents.
