Final: Red Sox 10, Rangers 3 taken at BSJ Headquarters (Red Sox)

After spotting the Texas Rangers a 3-0 first inning lead, the Red Sox ripped off 10 straight unanswered runs and posted a 10-3 victory, their second in a row.

In what was likely his last start in a Red Sox uniform, Rick Porcello pitched six strong innings and overcame the rough first inning, retiring the last 11 hitters he faced and struck out eight.

The Sox got three homers from Christian Vazquez, Mitch Moreland and  as they set a new team home run record with 241.

IN-GAME OBSERVATIONS:

10:15   Rafael Devers homers, his 32nd homer of the year. That gives him 87 extra-base hits this season, the most for a Red Sox player in a season before turning 23, eclipsing Ted Williams. Also, the 32 homers ties him with Tony Conigliaro for the most homers by a Sox player before turning 23.

10:12  Porcello done after six innings, having retired the last 11 he faced. Knowing that this could well be the final start of his Red Sox career, Porcello takes time to exchange hugs with staff members and teammates in the dugout. He's allowed just five runs over his last three outings.

9:58   Mitch Moreland's fourth homer of the road trip -- a two-run shot  -- boosts the Red Sox lead to 7-3.

9:34  Second night in a row in which Jackie Bradley Jr. is thrown out trying to steal second base. Both times, Bradley attempted to slide off to the side and tag the bag, and both times, it cost him as the indirect route to the bag cost him.

9:22   Vazquez, who left the game the last half-inning, is dealing with a tight left hamstring. Seems like a precautionary move.

9:07  The hot bat of Christian Vazquez continues. Vazquez pounds a pitch to left-center for his 23rd homer of the season and second in the last four games. That also establishes a new season-high for the Red Sox with 239 homers.

8:43  Very quickly, the Red Sox come back and erase a 3-0 deficit, with the big hit coming from an unlikely source: Chris Owings' two-run single up the middle. Owings came into the game with just four hits in 36 at-bats (.111) and two RBI.

8:27  Pretty evident early on that, unlike his last two starts, Rick Porcello isn't as effective down in the strike zone. Some hard contact being made against him in the first.

8:22 Rougned Odor pulled a double into the right field corner scoring two, but a perfectly executed relay between Gorkys Hernandez and Chris Owings cuts down Willie Calhoun at the plate.
