9:15: The Bjork-Lindholm-Backes line has been dominant. Backes scores to make it 2-0, but that line as a whole has been on the ice for 10 5v5 SOG for Boston and just one for the Devils.
8:56: Third period underway.
8:22: Jack Studnicka is back on the ice, sporting some new stitches.
8:12: Backes and his linemates in Bjork/Lindholm have been impressive tonight. Nothing flashy, but they're holding on to the puck and creating chances down low.
8:00: Second period underway. Don't see Studnicka on the bench.
7:43: End First: Bruins lead, 1-0. SOG in favor of Boston, 13-5.
7:38: Bruins head back on the PK. David Backes off for a slash.
7:30: Jack Studnicka opens the scoring off of a painful sequence — as a shot from Paul Carey is deflected off of Studnicka's face and into the net. He heads down the tunnel for repairs.
7:26: I've been pretty impressed with what I've seen from Par Lindholm so far this preseason. Still not sure what his role is on the team (not sure the team really knows yet either), but he's been solid down both ends of the ice.
7:17: Good shift for the Grzelcyk-McAvoy pairing in the O-zone. Grzelcyk said that one of his offseason goals was to improve his shot. A blast from the blue line lead to a scoring chance down low against Blackwood.
7:12: B's kill it off — good stuff from Grzelcyk-McAvoy down low.
7:08: Puck dropped and we're underway. Lauzon heads off for two minutes just 23 seconds in.

PREGAME NOTES:
- While a number of regulars up front will be missing from Wednesday’s preseason tilt, Boston’s blue line will be loaded with Charlie McAvoy, Torey Krug, Brandon Carlo and Matt Grzelcyk all expected to play. This will stand as Krug’s first preseason matchup this fall, with the defenseman getting eased into the lineup given his poor luck over the last few years during the preseason.
- Back in September 2017, Krug took a puck to the face and suffered a non-displaced jaw fracture, while the veteran went down with an ankle injury during the 2018 preseason finale that put him on the shelf for the first 11 games of the regular season.
- David Krejci did not practice Wednesday for the second day in a row, with his status for Saturday’s preseason finale up in the air. … Peter Cehlarik is dealing with a lower-body injury and will remain off the ice for the next two or three days . … The Bruins trimmed their roster again on Wednesday — assigning Jakub Lauko to the Providence Bruins, while defenseman Josiah Didier will also report to the AHL club.
- The Bruins fell to the Devils, 4-3, in their preseason opener on September 16. The top pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, Jack Hughes, scored two goals — including the game winner in overtime. Like the Bruins, the Devils will also not have a number of their regulars in the lineup on Wednesday — headlined by Taylor Hall and P.K. Subban.
