First and 10: Heading into the weekend with the latest Patriots links taken at BSJ Headquarters (Patriots)

(Adam Richins/Boston Sports Journal)

Welcome to first and 10, a roundup of all the (mostly) Patriots-related news you need to start your Friday. Grab your coffee and let’s get to it.

Going to jump right into things this morning, because we have a lot of interesting stuff. Have a terrific weekend, everyone.

1. I spoke with Robby Discher, who was the college position coach for new Patriots’ tight end Michael Roberts, who was acquired from the Lions on Thursday. Discher provided an interesting portrait of New England’s newest tight end, a guy who might have the biggest hands on the roster.

2. Here’s the release from the team on the acquisition of Roberts.

3. Mike Reiss and Michael Rothstein of ESPN provide some more on Roberts and the trade to New England.

4. The Associated Press has the nuts-and-bolts on the Nick Caserio situation here.

5. John McClain and Aaron Wilson — two guys who are more dialed in when it comes to the Texans’ beat than just about anyone — have a really good podcast here where they talk about Houston and the Caserio situation. Worth a listen for a fresh perspective.

6. Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report ranks every quarterbacks’ supporting cast. The Patriots rank 23rd. “The Patriots always find a way to get the most out of players who didn't cut it elsewhere, and it'll probably be no different this year,” argues Gagnon. “But that doesn't change the fact that (Tom) Brady's supporting cast appears to be subpar.”

7. Adam Schein of NFL.com has his top nine MVP candidates for 2019. No Patriots on the list.
