The Revolution will play at Orlando City SC in the Fifth Round/Round of 16 of the US Open Cup next Wednesday, June 19 at Orlando's Exploria Stadium -- the new name for Orlando City Stadium -- following the draw at US Soccer’s Soccer House headquarters in Chicago.
Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
New England advanced to the Fifth Round thanks to its 3-2 extra-time victory over rival MLS side New York Red Bulls on Tuesday, while the Lions advanced to next week’s Fifth Round with a 3-1 win over USL Championship side Memphis 901 FC on Wednesday night.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the two sides in the second oldest domestic soccer cup competition in the world, and will be the second time the Revs play their Eastern Conference rivals outside of league play this season. In February, the Lions destroyed the Revs, 6-2, in a preseason friendly in Orlando.
Last year, New England played Orlando to a 3-3 draw on Aug. 4 in Florida, before coming out on top in a 2-0 decision on Oct. 13 at Gillette Stadium.
Should the Revolution win and advance to the quarterfinals, they would host either DC United or New York City FC, who were paired together in Thursday morning’s draw.
In other Fifth Round match-ups (home team listed first):
Saint Louis FC (USL Championship) vs. FC Cincinnati
Houston Dynamo vs. Minnesota United
FC Dallas vs New Mexico United (USL Championship)
LAFC vs. San Jose Earthquakes
Portland Timbers vs. LA Galaxy
The Charleston Battery-Atlanta United winner will play at Columbus Crew; Charleston and AUFC will play a closed-door Fourth Round tie at Kennesaw State University in Georgia this evening after their match Tuesday was called off for poor pitch conditions at MUSC Health Stadium in Charleston thanks to continued rain in the Palmetto State.
KSU’s Fifth Third Bank Stadium is home to Atlanta United 2, AUFC’s USL Championship affiliate.
