Bedard's Daily Briefing 04.30.19: Another busy night in Boston sports, still don't care about Garoppolo flow charts

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I wonder if we'll go one week without youth sports rainouts this spring...

• All three local teams are in action tonight, as the Celtics and Bruins are on the road, and the Red Sox look to build on their one-game winning streak.


• The Bruins could really use a strong 60 minutes tonight in Columbus. They're going to need to win a game there. Might as well be tonight after an extra day's rest.


• I'm worried about the older Bruins in a series like this. Whether it's Zdeno Chara (mostly), Patrice Bergeron or Brad Marchand, it looks like they're being as adversely affected by the physical play as anybody. You can tell the book on Chara is to pressure him anytime he has the puck on his stick. Chances are he'll turn it over.


• At least Bruce Cassidy appears to be making a needed change with David Pastrnak ... didn't think I'd be saying this, but do we want to mess up the bottom-six at this point?


• The Red Sox are 7.5 games back. There's talk that it's starting to get too late for them. Please. I'm not going to think a team this talented is out of it until they're at least 15 games back. These Red Sox can't get hot and blow the doors off the rest of the AL East? Of course they can.


• Agree with Sean McAdam on Michael Chavis.


• The Celtics will have to see if the Bucks have an answer tonight. They have to have more than they showed in Game 1, right? Better watch Jaylen...


• Jarrett Stidham ... interesting thoughts, but part of me hears excuse-making. I also hear, "He needs everything around him to be right in order to be successful."


• No, I still don't care about your diagrams about the Jimmy Garoppolo trade ramifications... they didn't get enough in the first place, so why would I care what they've flipped it into? One has nothing to do with the other. And don't even mention Josh Rosen. Again, irrelevant.


• First the Patriots, now the Celtics ... not only are Boston teams on a hugely successful swing, they're rendering their regular seasons meaningless. The Red Sox are probably next.
