The Celtics roster heading into the postseason looks to be finalized after the team announced they have signed 6-foot-2 guard Jonathan Gibson on Tuesday. Gibson, 31, played four games with the Celtics at the end of last season, filling the team's injury hardship exception spot for just over a week, averaging 8.6 points per game while shooting over 60 percent from the field. He also played two months with the Dallas Mavericks in 2016-17 before being waived. Gibson has spent this season in China, where he averaged 33.1 points per game before finishing up last month.

Bringing Gibson into the fold in Boston helps the Celtics on a couple of fronts. It will give the team a complete 15-man roster and added shooting depth on the wing in case of an injury to a couple of key offensive weapon. Gibson's familiarity with the Celtics last season will also benefit the team since bringing in a player that knows some aspects of Brad Stevens' system from last year should reduce any kind of learning curve. The front office held off on signing an additional player until Tuesday in order to maximize luxury tax savings after letting Greg Monroe go, but Gibson will give Stevens an extra body to use tonight in Washington with seven rotation players sidelined due to injury and rest.

Gibson won't dress or be used in the postseason before a game is decided unless something goes terribly wrong (i.e. multiple injuries hit), however, he will get some action tonight in Washington if he joins the team by then. There is also a possibility that his salary will be used in a trade for next season if he was signed to a multi-year deal. Gibson will wear No. 8. A closer look at some of his finer NBA moments from a couple years ago.
