Bedard's Daily Briefing 04.09.19: Red Sox home opener, Bruins-Leafs, Patriots bargain hunting taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I wonder what Patriots will be on hand at the Red Sox game today...

  • Always a great day when the Red Sox kick off the season at The Fens. Too bad the weather is going to mostly stink.

  • The Patriots' brass of Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and Robert Kraft are expected to not attend the festivities ... not a big deal but it will be made one.

  • However, if there was one ring ceremony you wanted Belichick to attend, it would be this one. Alex Cora could use a little face time with The Hoodie to figure out how he gets his team to sustain success year after year after year.

  • Cora and Belichick couldn't be more different in this regard. Cora can't stop referencing last year; Belichick stops talking about the previous season after the duck boats. That can be slightly annoying as a media member, but you can't ever knock the results.

  • If this early season malaise continues, Cora is going to have to start channeling his inner Belichick.

  • But, starting anew at home gives the season a fresh feel.

  • All the important stuff you need to know about Bruins-Leafs from Conor.

  • The Patriots always love a good draft bargain, and these are available this year. Hit and miss track record.
